Comedian Mike Brody found his career path in the most roundabout way possible: "Basically I figured out what to do in my life by doing everything wrong first. It's like a reverse checklist," he says. Brody smartly spins personal stories and observations into endearingly absurdist riffs that span his broad range of interest, from punk rock to the supernatural to family life, delivered with a kind of Zen-like precision that fuses verbal acuity with high-energy act-outs. The newly married veteran road comic is also looking forward to working Christmas week at home. "When you're a full-time comic, certain things like family dinners and old movies that maybe you would have rolled your eyes at you learn to appreciate more. I like Christmas decorations and nice houses, because I like to pretend they're my house. It makes me feel like not so much of a roving nomad. I'm in a comedy condo in the suburbs of Oklahoma City right now, and the neighbors have all these decorations up and their door was open and they had a big family meal going on. It looks like an Old Navy commercial. But I can't tell if that part made me feel happy or sad." 18+; 21+ later shows.
