While there has always been a fine line between news and opinion, that border has shrunk to a hair's breadth in recent years. And while people are spending more of their time following stories in the news, according to the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, they are getting their information from vastly different sources nowadays. From satirical late-night programs such as The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, to the angry rants of Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, to unemployed bloggers on ideological crusades, to fame-enamored "experts" who show up on television to spew nonsense as truth, the way we consume and disseminate ideas is shifting quickly, sometimes day to day. These changes bring forth many questions, including how we as news consumers delineate between comedy, opinion, and actual news. Steve Seel of the Current will host this discussion, which will also feature MPR News's Chris Worthington and Bob Collins.
