Twin Cities Dance Film Retrospective

For the Twin Cities Dance Film Retrospective, dance films by local choreographers and filmmakers from the 1980s to the present exhibit a range of screen-dance gems, from a deeply spiritual Indian solo about an untouchable (with director Robert Hammel, performer Rannee Ramaswamy, and choreographer Alarmel Valli) to "Wingspan 5'2"," shot amid mountaintops, lakes, and a burned out forest (directed by Emily Johnson, cinematography by James Everest and Randy Kramer). Some of the most experimental minds in both film and dance light up the screen here, including the teams of James Byrne and Wendy Morris, Mark Stanley and Laurie Van Wieren, Gerry Girouard and Nancy Mason Hauser, Shawn McConneloug and Greg Cummins, and Paula Mann and Steve Paul. Plus Michael Yonkers, Olive Bieranga, and Otto Ramstad do it all, working both behind and in front of the camera.
Sat., Dec. 11, 7:30 p.m.; Sun., Dec. 12, 2 p.m., 2010
