Does the uptight atmosphere of fine art galleries and museums make you want to behave badly? Then this is the party for you. The Gehry landmark has taken down all its priceless pieces in preparation for the addition of five new galleries and is throwing the opposite of an opening. This is an art closing party, and as such the normal rules are turned upside down. The silence will be broken with live performances by power-popsters the God Damn Doo Wop Band and Off With Their Heads as revelers partake in a full cash bar as well as complimentary wine tastings of domestic and imported red wines, and Surly beers while they last. D'Amico Catering will provide tasty tacos, satay, and banh mi to eat in the museum, while artists from the Cult Status Gallery ply their graffiti trade on the premises. Party attendees will also be invited to contribute to a group mural and create their own artwork to hang on the museum walls. Basically, WAM's 8,100-square-foot expansion means a slam-bang celebration for those who are lucky enough to get tickets. 18+.
