SWIM

As Jen March constructed a chapbook of poetry she wrote between her 20th and 30th birthdays, she wondered how the images might look in someone's mind. She also wondered if she could find—or make—these images in the real world to create another version of her poems. March went on to found Co-Kisser, a poetry-film production company, and working with Peter Hogan she produced a live-action film, called SWIM, that is "loosely linear," with a story based on the emotional truths in the book. The piece is heavy with imagery and inspired by dance, according to March. You can see the results at Franklin Art Works this Thursday. The evening will also include an introduction to Co-Kisser; a poetry reading by March; food and drinks; DJs Psychedelic Shack; and live music by Niki Becker, Kurt Froehlich, Adam Wirtzfeld, and Birds of Virginia. After March began working on Co-Kisser and SWIM, she also partnered with the women of Broadcraft Press to publish SWIM as an artist book, which will be on sale at the event as well.
