The Joke Joint will celebrate its first Thanksgiving in its swanky new digs in Lilydale with an encore presentation of last year's holiday show, which both performers say they hope to make an annual tradition. Fridley-born headliner Tommy Thompson (pictured) will be joined by Twin Cities talent turned New York comic Joe Cocozzello. Thompson is one of the brightest young headliners in the Midwest. His act is a rare blend of smart and accessible, a surefire combination that was recognized earlier in the year when he advanced to the top 10 at the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas. Not only is Thompson easygoing and affable enough onstage to talk to just about any crowd, he's clever enough to always stay a step ahead of them. Cocozello is a fast-talking livewire who delivers his hyperkinetic act with a Cheshire Cat grin, veering from the observational to the scatological to cheeky onstage readings. He says he's looking forward to the challenge of packing the Joke Joint with a crowd to match last year's turnout — looking forward to everything, he says, except for the flight into town. "I feel bad for whoever has to sit next to me on an airplane, because I'm either too happy because the drugs have set in, or I'm too angsty and need to be tied down for the remainder of the flight." 18+. $10-$15. 8 p.m. Wednesday, Friday through Saturday; 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
