The Star Wars Holiday Special

While many scream in frustration at the existence of Jar Jar Binks, and perhaps even the prequels as a whole, no other Star Wars lore is quite as reviled as the holiday special. It aired on television a single time in 1978, and George Lucas has refused to talk about it since. Those who tuned in and watched it the whole way through were presumably on drugs, and the cast and crew were rumored to be on something too (we're looking at you, Carrie Fisher). We could go into the details of the plot, but it really isn't necessary. Here's what you need to know: Bea Arthur sings, there's an animated segment featuring Boba Fett, Jefferson Starship performs in "3D" (it's not really 3D), and there are touching moments between Chewbacca and family. Order a double at the bar, and bring a toy. Just because you've chosen to let George Lucas destroy your Christmas doesn't mean that the economy should destroy others'. Admission is free with a gift donation Toys for Tots.
