More About

For several years the NBC reality show Last Comic Standing was itself something of a joke. Rather than judging comedians based on writing ability and stage presence, the show devolved into the contestants participating in stupid stunts that were, at best, tangentially related to standup. But the show cleaned up its format earlier this year for its seventh season, turning into an all-standup contest and bringing in popular host Craig Robinson and some eminently respectable judges (including back-of-the-room favorite Andy Kindler and the late, great Greg Giraldo). The result was an excellent crop of contenders who got ample time to show off their impressive abilities. This season's five finalists—Mike DeStefano, Myq Kaplan, Roy Wood Jr., Tommy Johnagin, and Felipe Esparza—are embarking on a months-long tour. Their styles run the gamut, from DeStefano's bombastic observations to Kaplan's professorial eloquence and Johnagin's sardonic introspection, which should make for an interesting blend. The performers change up the order every night, except for winner Esparza, of course, who closes the show. This show is currently sold out. (Pictured: Tommy Johnagin)
