It might seem a little strange, but the Uptown Apple Store has been hosting events beyond computer workshops. We're unsure of the motivation (could the ghost of the Uptown Café be haunting them?), but we're always up for cool, free happenings featuring local artists. This Saturday, Minnesota native Damian Francis Wagner will be on hand to exhibit two of his latest projects. The artist's work has been featured around the world, including Brazil, Los Angeles, and Mexico; some of his efforts are even part of MoMA's permanent collection. On the store's first floor, guests will be able to view a screening of DOM, an experimental art piece filmed live in Brazil that fuses performance, sculpture, and painting with the music of O Grivo. Upstairs, people can listen to Earth, a soundscape created using sounds and beats occurring naturally in our world. After the show, head over to Nick & Eddie (1612 Harmon Pl., Minneapolis; 612,486.5800) for an afterparty featuring music from IS/IS and Zoo Animal.
Sat., Nov. 6, 6-7 p.m., 2010
