New World/Old World

Scattered in galleries about town during the 2010 Mid America Print Council Conference, "New World/Old World" is a series of small shows in which artists explore the juxtaposition of tradition and innovation in printmaking. Along with an exhibition at the University of Minnesota Regis Center for Art, which is hosting the conference "Form + Content" in downtown Minneapolis will display handcrafted books and delicately constructed specimen boxes through which Jody Williams expresses her fascination with fossils. Meanwhile, the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul celebrates printmaker Lloyd Menard, whose intaglios convey cultural history in richly rendered colors and imagery. U of M Regis Center for Art, 405 21st Ave. S., Minneapolis; 612.625.8096. Form + Content Gallery, 210 Second St. N., Minneapolis; 612.436.1151. College of Visual Arts, 344 Summit Ave., St. Paul; 651.757.4000.
