Twin Cities Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest seems to become a bigger holiday every year, and what could be bigger than a party at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds? But this isn't your basic beer bash—it's a full-on tribute to German food and culture. The headliners each night are a troupe of lederhosen-wearing polka players called The Jolly Huntsmen. Daytime performers include the 30-piece Bavarian Musikmeisters, as well as Alpensterne, a band known for its yodeling and 15-foot Swiss Alphorn. Summit Oktoberfest is the beer of choice at the fest, and the featured wine is by Pedroncelli, a family-owned California vineyard. The event is based in the Progress Center, the building that housed exhibits on renewable energy and green living during the State Fair. Look for the coupon for one free beverage on the Twin Cities Oktoberfest website. For more info, visit www.twincitiesoktoberfest.com. (Image by Plinkk)
