American Ballet Theatre's ABT II

The second company of American Ballet Theatre tackles a daunting and wide ranging repertory. There's the Rose Adagio from the 19th century classic "The Sleeping Beauty," a supreme test of every ballerina's balance and authority. Moving into the 20th century, George Balanchine's briskly paced "Allegro Brillante" contains what Mr. B described as "Everything I know about classical ballet in 13 minutes." Two works by Balanchine's colleague Jerome Robbins and Canadian superstar Aszure Barton mix elements of ballet and jazz dance to showcase the exuberant spirit of these youthful stars of tomorrow.
