Oktoberfest

While some may mourn the end of summer, others will be thankful that it is finally fall. Why? Because beer lovers know that this month features a lengthy holiday celebrating brew. Black Forest Inn does Oktoberfest right with a series of nightly events that range from informative to hilarious to colorful to tasty. Friday night starts things off with a ceremonial keg tapping, an alphorn jam, and a cabaret performance by Le Cirque Rouge (they also perform Saturday). Food-related events include Sunday's chocolate-themed decadence and Monday's Wurst Night, an evening where the horrific-sounding menu will feature pickled tongue and marinated heart. Other happenings scheduled include an evening where you can sample various homebrews (Tuesday, September 28), rock out to "Der Komissar" during '80s German pop night (Thursday, September 30), and honor David Hasselhoff (Friday, October 1). Be sure to stop in after 2 p.m. on the final day; beer will going for $.25 to $.50 a pint until the keg is tapped. Check out www.blackforestinnmpls.com for a complete list of events.
