This weekend, comedian Tig Notaro is playing the spacious Music Box Theatre, but she's also interested in smaller venues—like your house. The spritely standup has filmed her own half-hour special for Comedy Central and was a regular on the network's The Sarah Silverman Program, not to mention her appearances at nearly every comedy festival of note. In 2006, she co-founded the Crackpot Comedy Tour with comedian pal Martha Kelly, which took the standups to the living rooms, basements, and garages of fans who solicited a performance. "It's a win-win situation for someone who likes what I do, but doesn't feel like leaving the house to experience my live show," Notaro says. She'll also appear at your party via the appropriately titled DVD, Have Tig at Your Party, which features the comic "standing sill for an hour and speaking infrequently into the camera, in hopes of blending into any party once you press play." Even at a more conventional venue like the Music Box, expect the unconventional with Notaro, who's one of comedy's quirkiest and most unique talents.
