As the Fitzgerald turns 100 this year, it's fitting that it will be honoring its namesake. The Big Time kicks off the centennial celebration with a theatrical reading from MPR's Patricia Hampl, who recently co-edited The St. Paul Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald (Borealis Books), a collection of short stories by the famous author, historically contextualized with introductions that also explore the writer's drive to be unforgettable. Musician Dan Chouinard will add ambience to the reading by playing bits of jazz from the era. This event will also be a family affair: Fitzgerald's granddaughter Eleanor Lanahan will introduce the performance, and great-granddaughter and indie-pop musician Blake Hazard will play a set. The lobby bars will stay open after the show for a cocktail reception where patrons will be able to mingle with performers.
Sat., Sept. 18, 8 p.m., 2010
