American Pottery Festival

As the Northern Clay Center turns 20, the annual American Pottery Festival will be celebrating with a weekend filled with sales, lectures, and parties featuring 85 of the most talented ceramic artists in North America. The event kicks off Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. with a benefit party. Guests can enjoy cocktails from the cash bar, snack on appetizers, and purchase art. Panel talks cover topics including running a business online, pottery collecting tips and tricks, and PechaKucha-style presentations filled with rapid-fire information. Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to watch demonstrations, chat up artists, and shop for early holiday gifts (or buy something for themselves). There will be many established talents on the scene, including Bob Briscoe, Ayumi Horie, Warren MacKenzie, Sequoia Miller, and others, as well as emerging artists in the pottery medium. For tickets and a complete schedule, visit www.northernclaycenter.org. (Work by Joe Pintz)
