The Works: A Writers Salon

Describing the writing process can be murky at best. What works for one may not work for another. Ultimately what it boils down to is basically not how you write, but simply writing at all. Regardless of one's personal preferences, how authors choose to put words to eyes is always interesting. At this monthly talk hosted by Lightsey Darst, creative types present their thoughts on the ethics, processes, and industry experiences in the writing world. As usual, this month's scheduled talks are varied in subject matter. Marge Barrett and Francine Tolf will explore the possibilities behind the "non-traumatic memoir," a personal history presumably devoid of sexual exploits, drug abuse, or other histrionically extreme and sordid details. Beth Oness will give her thoughts on whether or not literary prizes mean prestige or diddly-squat. Finally, Mikal Oness will lead a presentation titled "The Literary Fine Press Book in the Career of the Poet." (Photo by Dawn Endico)
