By his own account, not much is new with homegrown comic Mike Brody. "Just working the road, same as always," he reports. "Living the comedian's life, you know. I'm still doing the Ghost Hunters thing (on the Syfy channel)." Suddenly, a few minutes into the conversation, something occurs to him. "I'm getting married in September. That's something I should have remembered," he laughs. After a one-year romance, which he describes as "love at first sight," the comedian and his fiancée will tie the knot in Arkansas—in a tree house. "We were going to elope, but then we felt guilty," he says. "Now it's just a wedding that no one's invited to." When he's not on the road, Brody has a steady gig at the House of Comedy, booking the supporting acts for headlining comedians, as well as organizing the "Hit or Miss Tuesdays," which showcase local comics. For his own act, Brody has been getting more personal. "I talk about things I believe. I talk about how I quit drinking five years ago, and things like that. I'm just trying to be more open onstage." 18+; 21+ later shows.
