Ever wish that a farmers' market vendor would show you exactly how to cook that kohlrabi? Farm foodies will enjoy a little extra hand-holding at Nicollet Island Pavilion this Sunday. Seminars running all day will provide advice on everything from blending wine to freezing sweet corn. Vegetarians will flock to cookbook author Robin Asbell, an expert on easy meatless meals and heart-healthy whole grains. Coffee drinkers will appreciate a session on single-cup brewing methods by Peace Coffee, a fair-trade company that roasts in south Minneapolis and delivers the goods by bike and biodiesel van. Snackers should hit up the food market operating outside with all the requisite yummy samples. The 40-plus exhibitors include the River Chocolate Company, Kayak Kitchens, Grass Fed Cattle Co., Gourmet Made Simple, Common Roots Café, and the Seward Co-op. All guests will receive a wine glass and a market tote bag. The event is the first of its kind hosted by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.
