Curtiss A has often been dubbed the Godfather of Minneapolis's rock scene. And while many recognize him as a musician (his yearly tribute concert to John Lennon is always a hit), the rocker has also been creating art throughout the years. He describes his collage work as a series of dreamscapes, and they truly are. Political figures, mythical creatures, and infamous beasts from fairytales are layered upon each other in a forest of iconography. It's a world where Superman, illuminati, and a hungry wolf dressed as grandma hide amongst urinals and wads of cash. Each piece is highly detailed, and as you begin to draw meaning from each work you may find yourself spotting something entirely new that brings even greater exploration. Come earlier in the week for a special preview event; Amy Buchanan will be filming the artist as he installs a sculpture from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 18. The opening reception from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, August 20, will include a live acoustic set from the rocker-artist.
