For some mediums of art, observing the creative process live can be about as exciting as watching paint dry (sometimes literally). That cannot be said about the act of molding liquid metal, red hot as molten lava, into sculptures. Much like blown glass art, it's an experience that is undeniably intense. You can witness it firsthand at Franconia Sculpture Park as artists from all over the country create impressive pieces at a staggeringly hot 2,500 degrees. Those looking to help and perhaps take something home are invited to sign up to create sand molds (call to RSVP, molds cost between $25 and $75). You'll create the design first, and then the pros will step in to pour your sculpture to life before your eyes. In addition to watching incredible art taking form, visitors can enjoy the sculpture garden itself as well as the experimental/found object sounds of Savage Aural Hotbed.
