The Storefront-in-a-Box experiment at 2441 Lyndale Avenue—Arise! Bookstore's former location and the future site of Boneshaker Books—continues from July 27 through August 1 with Play by Play Bookstore's Theateropolis, a weeklong extravaganza of theater workshops, readings, classes, and previews. The storefront will feature an arts and crafts bazaar, as well as a small sample of theater books and gifts from the store's stock. Throughout the week there will be activities including open rehearsals by Theater Pro Rata and Savage Umbrella, a workshop by Live Action Set, and classes by such local acting teachers as Beth Chaplin, author of The Acting Biz: A Career Guide to the Twin Cities; Ben Krywosz of Nautilus Music-Theater; and Bill Cooper, who teaches an on-camera class. Other events include play readings, a Minnesota Playlist happy hour, an open mic for 10-minute plays, Fringe Festival previews, artist career consultations, discussions led by Springboard for the Arts and Leah Cooper of Minnesota Theater Alliance, tips on social networking for theaters, and a short piece by Open Eye Figure Theater.
