The future is now at this group show featuring 14 artists working in a variety of mediums. "The New Antiquarians" will include pieces that walk the lines between modern and old-fashioned, familiar and alien, beautiful and repulsive. Expect dark alien landscapes, a catacomb filled with and constructed from found materials, and steampunk sculptures. What is steampunk, you say? One internet meme likens it to Lincoln with a Gatling gun for an arm. If that's hard to imagine, picture a blending of modern goth with turn-of-the century Victorian aesthetics, and throw in some decrepit futuristic devices with nary a computer chip for good measure. The opening reception will feature live music by Greg Brosofske from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 31. Show up earlier and enjoy music and art in the park from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., as the Red Hot Art Festival will be going full force this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: July 31. Continues through Aug. 29, 2010
