You'd think the Dirty Curls would be content just to write the filthiest bluegrass music in existence, featuring prurient lines like "Maybe my lubricant is cold as ice/And my vibrator's well-worn/But if there is one thing that will get me hot/It's watching Minnesota porn." But you'd be wrong. They've also been hosting a trashy book club, organizing a weeklong bluegrass hoedown in the Storefront-In-A-Box space (August 3-9), and cutting an EP called Cowgirl the Fuck Up. Tonight, another of their side projects takes to the Bryant-Lake Bowl stage, pulling together local comedians Amber Preston and John Schreiner, burlesque artists Naughtia Noir and Paradox, and musicians the Whiskey Sournotes, whose tune "Poopy Butt Dog," indicates they'll really raise the tone of the evening. It's burlesque in the old tradition—sex-as-joke more than sex-as-titillation—and there'll be a brand-new Curls song debuted, as well as a short film (which we can only hope is as pornographic as the event suggests).
