It was a major bummer a couple of weeks ago when the Uptown Pride Fest had to close up vendor stations and move indoors to the Bryant-Lake Bowl due to hail and constant rain. Thankfully, Barbette (it has the same owners as the BLB) will be hosting a similar outdoor festival this Sunday. The musical lineup looks great and includes tiny powerhouse rocker Mayda, City Pages' fav Red Pens, hip-hop artists Eyedea & Abilities, and rockers Chooglin and the Magnolias. Emcee Foxy Tann will be sure to keep everyone in line. North Star Roller Girls will be wheeling around on the street, as will Familia Skateshop. If you're feeling ambitious, sign up for the hula hoop contest. This is a zero-waste event, and the food dished will be organic and local, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting People Serving People. The event is hosted outside of Barbette, right on Irving Avenue.
