Hennepin County Master Gardener Tour

For someone with a green thumb, gardening is an enjoyable hobby. For those of us without an ounce of green in our appendages, a day in the backyard can be torturous manual labor with disheartening results. Regardless of which category you fall into, you'll be impressed by the eight gardens featured on this self-guided tour. Of course, each home goes above and beyond being a hobby garden; stops along the tour include butterfly, waterfront, native plant, kitchen, and container gardens, all designed by Extension master gardeners. Lecture and demonstration topics at various sites include tips on attracting pollinators (also known as birds, bees, and butterflies), landscaping for family life, and gardening with wildlife. Green-thumb-challenged individuals may want to check out "Gardening Is a Process: Learning What Works for You." Gardens this year will be located throughout the Plymouth and Wayzata areas. All proceeds benefit University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener community programs in Hennepin County. For tickets visit www.hcmg.umn.edu or call 612.596.2130. (Image by suchitra prints)
