"It's slow and quiet, then all of a sudden it's like you can't catch your breath," says comedian Paul Mecurio of his career. These days it's been a case of the latter for the former Daily Show writer. Fans of Mecurio's HBO web series Got No Game will be glad to hear that new episodes are going to be produced soon. Radio listeners may also know Mecurio as "The Image Makeover Guy" from The Bob & Tom Show. The segment is so popular that a CD of his top "makeovers" was released back in April. Meanwhile he continues to tour while writing and developing TV shows. Three are currently in the works, but none of those projects will distract him while he's in the Twin Cities. "I'm really looking forward to going back to Minnesota," he says. "I always have a great time there." Personally the future looks bright for Mecurio, but he's a little disappointed with the way the world has turned out in 2010. "It's supposed to be the future," he complains. "There were supposed to be flying cars at this point. The biggest advance seems to be covers for your cell phone, and the Snuggie. I don't care how old or young you are, 2010 represented the future, and it's not turned out to be as cool a 2010 as I thought it was going to be." Mecurio finds the cell phone case to be a ridiculous concept. "They can't handle getting bumped? You don't do that for anything. You don't need a case, the phone is the case. You don't have a baby and the doctor goes, 'Look I know it has skin, but you might want to laminate that for another $69.95.'" 18+; 21+ later shows.
