Everything: Paintings and Works on Paper, 1980-2008

In this major survey of work by Guillermo Kuitca, "Everything" is indeed on display. On view at this traveling exhibit will be over 30 years' worth of pieces, including 50 paintings, 25 works on paper, and a huge sculpture constructed from 20 painted mattresses. Over the years the Buenos Aires-based artist has experimented with blueprint-like paintings of spaces both public and residential. The results are colorful, detailed, architectural, and reminiscent of aerial views of stadiums, concert venues, and cites. At the Walker After Hours Preview Party from 9 p.m. to midnight Friday, June 25, guests will be able to take a sneak peek at the art while snacking on appetizers and sipping cocktails. The Red Pens and DJ Double Trouble will play tunes, and opera film Aria will screen (tickets for the party are $35). Kuitca himself will be on hand Saturday, June 26, to give a free artist's talk at 2 p.m. (Trauerspiel pictured by Lee Stalsworth)
