Daily Happy Hours

When Uptown's Figlio recently retired, many neighborhood residents didn't even notice. Though it had a great happy hour, its best days had fully established themselves in the past. Rather than staying vacant (not an unlikely prospect in the sometimes-precarious Calhoun Square), the space found Il Gatto stepping in to further modernize the corner of Hennepin and Lake. The effort seems to have worked: The new interior is dramatic, the lighting is golden, and the menu is a little fancy without being too pretentious. Oh, and the happy hours are still pretty good, too. They run all day until 7 p.m., and start up again at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. During that time three is the magic number, with domestic taps, well drinks, house wines, cod sliders, chips, and mini-pizzas and burgers going for $3 each. Mondays are good days for winos, with 10 bottles from the regular menu priced down to $10 each. (Image by TheBusyBrain)
