Loring Park never seems quite as big as it does during Pride Festival, when every inch of the grassy park is filled with something to do. During the weekend there will be sports tournaments for athletic types, family activities for kids and parents, political groups chatting about current topics, a beer garden in which to hang with friends, and tons of fun people-watching. On Saturday night, for $10, festival-goers can take in a concert featuring CeCe Peniston and the Village People (not at the same time—heads would explode). Be sure to arrive early on Sunday for a good cheering spot for the parade. It starts at 11 a.m. and marches down Hennepin Avenue from downtown to Loring Park.
