Midsommar Celebration 2010

Once again the American Swedish Institute will celebrate the arrival of summer with this great, family-friendly festival. This year's party will have a twist of Finnish culture, as the current art exhibit explores architectural designs from Finnish and Finnish-American folks. The event starts early with patriotic songs, but we recommended arriving a little later in the day, as the song and dance around the Maypole at 1 p.m. really kicks off the festivities. Throughout the day there will be traditional music and dance onstage, art activities for families, and the opportunity to chat with a Swedish woodworker. The Turnblad Mansion will be hosting children's crafts, as well as a bingo game. Food and beer will also be had. (John Ray Photography)
Sat., June 19, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 2010
