The dance/performance trio known as Mad King Thomas consists of three young women (Monica Thomas, Tara King, and Theresa Madaus) who negotiate the third and fourth waves of feminism simultaneously. Self-conscious and self-reflexive experimentalists with a lot of performance savvy, they keep that inner Riot Grrrl thing going while addressing some fairly serious stuff. For "The League of Red Herrings" they team up with Judith Howard, a performer who infuses old-world glamour with a sort of raucous urgency. This time out, MKT tackles big-picture issues including sex, gender, power, and self-determination through the lenses of drag, mythology, mermaid tails, and dripping goo. There will be sparkles and penis jokes. Howard's new works pay homage to the likes of Mick Jagger and Alexander McQueen. Expect an uncensored performance.
