Minneapolis MOSAIC Opening Night Party

How many artists can you pack into one block of Hennepin Avenue? When you have a cultural community as diverse as the one in Minneapolis, you can bet it's a big number. Many will be downtown this weekend to kick off a summer filled with more than 100 art, music, dance, spoken-word, and theater events citywide. This year's street party and festival also marks a new partnership with Twin Cities World Refugee Day, which celebrates the arts and culture of more than 100,000 refugees who live throughout the state, so expect an event with international flair. Attendees will enjoy a special commissioned performance of "Soul to Sole," presented by Katha Dance Theatre and Robert Robinson (an exciting fusion of Indian dance with gospel music), as well as the finals of the first MPLS TLNT SHW! for teens age 13-19, held at the Pantages Theatre. Other performances include Aztec dance, Brazilian drum line, Jam Reggae, Argentinean tango, Chinese dance and acrobatics, a world dance party, and much, much more. Plus, enjoy delicious food selections from the Midtown Global Market and Mill City Farmer's Market. For more info, visit www.minneapolismosaic.com or call 612.655.1907.
