Open House

Minnesota Public Radio hit a huge landmark recently when it surpassed 100,000 members—an honor shared only with New York City's WNYC. To celebrate, the station will be opening its doors this Sunday, inviting those who support public radio (and those who are curious to learn more) to this daylong open house. Throughout the afternoon visitors will be able to take self-guided tours of the building, check out surround-sound demonstrations, enjoy performances by cellists from Jelloslave, and meet radio personalities along the way. Program hosts and disc jockeys stopping by to greet listeners include Tom Keith and Jearlyn Steele from A Prairie Home Companion, MPR news hosts Cathy Wurzer and Kerri Miller, and Current favorites Barb Abney, Mark Wheat, and Steve Seel, among others. Over at the Fitzgerald Theater (10 E. Exchange St., St. Paul; 651.290.1200), there will be performances and screenings during the day, including family-friendly concerts with Adam Levy's Bunny Clogs at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and cool rock 'n' roll trailers screening at 2 p.m.
Sun., May 23, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., 2010
