This event held by the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) looks to be part party, part art sale, and part activism. Over the years the group has spoken out against global corporations whose practices are found to be dangerous, both to the environment and to employees. The evening will feature an attendee-juried art show. Artists were asked to use businesses with shoddy human-rights and sustainability track records for inspiration, so expect to see images like the Pillsbury Doughboy walking among flaming forests, and logos on destroyed property. Partiers will be invited to vote on their favorite images, and artists will be awarded prizes at the end of the night. Live music will include spoken-word/hip-hop artists Kill the Vultures, thrashers Bouncer Fighter, and Phantom Tails. This will be the inaugural event for the Tarnish&Gold Gallery space, which will formally open up for Art-a-Whirl. (Artwork by Matt Wells)
