More About

Super High Me star and stoner icon Doug Benson will be in town for a special two-show Tuesday at Acme that will be recorded and released later this year by Comedy Central Records. The as-yet-untitled album will be his third in three years, following Standup Humoredian (2008) and Unbalanced Load (2009). Benson says he, like fellow standup superhero Louis C.K., was inspired by the death of the late, great George Carlin to focus more on writing and recording new material, enough to fill one TV special or CD each year. Fittingly, Marijuana-Logues co-creator Benson picked the unofficial pothead holiday as his annual deadline. "I just figure that, wherever I'm playing now, if I do a show on 4/20 it's going to be my best audience. Plus, doing one every year on 4/20, it's an easy goal for me to remember," he says. An hour of new material a year is a grueling workload, one that runs contrary to the stoner stereotype—a stereotype Benson is happy to help kill. "A lot of the clichés and things people assume aren't true. I tend to be quite punctual and professional—but I also am high a lot of the time." 18+. (Photo by Todd Plitt)
