Sneaking in on the cusp of MNfashion Week's spring debut in mid-April, ENVISION: Artopia promises to be one of the most eclectic fashion, art, beauty, and music happenings of the spring season. This event moves past the traditional fashion party and brings in interactive elements like live art, breakdancing, and live music to add energy and passion to the two-part runway show. If you're looking to shop, a silent auction with tons of local goods will be on display, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the Young Survival Coalition, a breast cancer research fund. On the runway, models will show off fresh and flirty collections from several local designers and boutiques, including Amanda Christine, Bumbershute, Cliche, Drama, Jenny Carle, Elsworth Menswear, Kjurek Couture, and more. Another interesting element of the evening will be an on-the-spot judging of the best spring collections by local style and fashion writers from Metro Magazine, City Pages, St. Paul Pioneer Press, and VitaMN. DJ Ken Hannigan (Anthem Heart) will tag-team with Chicago vocalist Dajae to provide a mix of house, rock, and electro for the runway shows. Doors open to a wine and food tasting for VIP ticket holders; general admission begins an hour later. If you're not exhausted by midnight, get your hand stamped on the way out and head over to the after-party down the street at the Lounge Nightclub where music will continue until 2 a.m. Visit www.envisionmpls.com for more info.
