While some may remember Julia Sweeney for her four-year run on Saturday Night Live, today she is probably more widely known for any number of projects. Most notably, she can be heard frequently on the radio. An occasional panelist on National Public Radio's news quiz show, Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, she is also a contributor to Public Radio International's This American Life. Since her departure from SNL, Sweeney has written and performed three autobiographical monologues: God Said Ha!, In the Family Way, and Letting Go of God. The last is her most controversial, as it deals with her move away from Catholicism and toward atheism. Sweeney will be in town this week to help kick off Wits, a four-part speaker series sponsored by Minnesota Public Radio. Hosted by John Moe and John Munson, the first installment will feature Sweeney discussing her experiences as a stay-at-home mom. Former Simpsons and The Ben Stiller Show writer Dana Gould will join the conversation via telephone from Hollywood. With musical guest Mason Jennings.
