My Grandmother's Tsotchkes: Tales of a Gambling Grandma

Oy vey, that grandma knew her way around a deck of cards. Now she's departed this world, leaving a few tsotchkes (a shoe, some chess pieces) for her granddaughter May to remember her by. Stuart Pimsler's tale of a Russian girl who escapes Cossacks, immigrates to New York, and gambles to support her family is a Mitzvah of songs, dances, Jewish lore, and poignant memories. A cast of 20 talented kids (and one adult) renders scenes of marauding Cossacks, gossiping card players, and intergenerational adventures. It should be a lively family outing for young and old alike.
