Filmmaker Matt Olson and host Bill Young, co-producers of the inventive (now late, lamented) Pee Your Pants Monthly, are teaming up with four Twin Cities comics for their latest venture, Comedy Standing Up. Each member of the comedic quartet has written and produced a short film shot by Olson, a notable local moviemaker who has twice been the city winner of the 48 Hour Film Challenge and whose work has been featured in the Cannes Film Festival. The film segments are linked by a single taxicab, which serves as a vehicle for four wild rides from the minds of Tommy Ryman, Brooks Robinson, Leah Mansfield, and Jon Wilson. The comics will screen their sketches and then perform 15-minute standup sets. Local junk-gospel troubadour Mike Gunther will play after the second show. Note to hacks (of the chauffeuring variety): Taxi drivers get in half-price with a valid cabbie's license. Yes, we're talking to you. 21+. (Photo by artwork rebel)
