More About

Dave Attell has always been what one might call a blue comic, perhaps even inappropriate at times. "The longer you do comedy, the more you look for the joke in everything," he explains. "It could be the saddest story in the world, but you're like, 'Wait a minute, there's something funny there.' I don't know if that's jaded. I think it's more being a bad person, and I'm a bad person. It's funny and it's sad in a way. The sicker the humor, the more I like it, but for the real people that come and see a show you have to pull it back a little bit. That's part of the job, I guess." While some comics get better with age, they sometimes get bitter as well. Attell actually finds it more of a challenge to maintain his previous level of disdain for things. "I find that the longer you do it, the harder it is to come up with new jokes unless something bad happens in your life, or you get married, or suffer some kind of cataclysmic event. It's hard to come up with the same dating and porn jokes; now people will only really come out if they've seen you on TV." 18+; 21+ later shows.
