Like fellow storyteller Mike Birbiglia, Christopher Titus often blurs the line between standup comic and raconteur. Both performers sometimes eschew the microphone and mic stand, the totem of standup comedy; in Titus's case, he roams the stage, highly animated, acting out the various players in his dysfunctional family. It's this motley crew that populates his autobiographical comedy, which is full of dark tales from his troubled youth that include murder, suicide, a mentally disturbed mother, and a hardnosed father —all of which served as fodder for his black-humored Fox sitcom, Titus. He's also appeared on a slew of TV shows as both a standup comedian and an actor, and he made his feature-film debut in the camp classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space. His latest standup special, Love Is Evol, was romance-themed —which for Titus means a devolving marriage, a bitter divorce, and custody battles before a respite of blissful confusion on the dating scene with a younger woman.
