More About

Despite a detour into the world of reality TV, Theo Von always wanted to be a standup comedian. "The Road Rules thing was just something that happened," he explains. "It was never like when I was little I said, 'I want to be on a reality show when I grow up.' They didn't even have them then, you know?" After several seasons on MTV, Von found himself on a reality show of a different kind, Last Comic Standing. He was voted off, but made it back on after being the most downloaded comic of that particular season. Today, Von lives in Los Angeles, where he frequently headlines clubs. "I do a lot of racy-style humor," he says. "I grew up in the South, so I talk about that. I come from kind of a weird family. My father was in his 70s when I was born." Twin Cities audiences may also be favored with a joke that only Midwesterners seem to find humorous. Von himself isn't sure if it's that funny, but audiences in this part of the country really seem to dig it. "I just do not like the punchline, but I tell it anyway because they like it," he says. "The whole story I like, just the final punchline I do not like." 18+; 21+ later shows.
Wednesdays-Sundays, 8 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 10:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 10. Continues through Feb. 14, 2010
