Whether you're talking about instruments, genres or moods, Andrew Broder plays a lot of things -- heavy on the guitar as of late. But while Fog's Ditherer looked like a sign that Broder was setting his turntable aside from excursions into power-trio indie rock, subsequent guest spot opportunities like Themselves' theFREEhoudini saw a return to his old "DJ Andrew" name and act as evidence that he hasn't entirely abandoned his original stylus-driven instrument. If his vintage work with Fog and Lateduster is any indication, his DJ nights at the Turf should be more than just a selecter showing off his obscure collection or a succession of well-known, crowd-pleasing hits -- it'll be an exhibition of one man's ongoing mission to coax strange, unsettling and exotic sounds from a party-rocking apparatus.
Mondays, 10 p.m. Starts: Jan. 25. Continues through March 29, 2010
