In only five years, Big Quarters has transitioned smoothly from early future promise to local rap cornerstone. You could put that strictly on the backs of their first two albums, 2007's striking debut Cost of Living and last year's heavier, harder-hitting followup From the Home of Brown Babies and White Mothers. But that'd gloss over just how integral Brandon Allday and Medium Zach have become to the Twin Cities hip hop scene as a whole -- curating the monthly Last of the Record Buyers producer showcase, keeping fresh beats in circulation with their Zip Disks Break series, and putting their lyrical and production stamp on critically respected releases by the likes of Toki Wright and Mike Swoop.
