More About

The Walker presents its annual series dedicated to works that expand our ideas of what film and video can encompass. In these experimental pieces, filmmakers break the boundaries of traditional narrative and structure. This week's highlights include "An Evening with Ben Russell" (Thursday at 7:30 p.m.; free), a discussion and live performance from the experimental filmmaker, and the local premiere of Where Is Where? (Saturday at 7:30 p.m.), a dreamlike evocation of death, politics, and philosophy based on a 1950s killing of a French boy by two of his Algerian friends, from Finnish director Eija-Liisa Ahtila. Other films during the series's five-week run include It Came from Kuchar (February 11 at 7:30 p.m.; free), a documentary tribute to underground filmmakers George and Mike Kuchar; Liverpool (February 12 at 7:30 p.m.), an Argentinean film about an alcoholic deckhand who returns home after years at sea; and "An Evening with Ellen Kuras" (February 20 at 7:30 p.m.), in which the well-known cinematographer and filmmaker discusses her career and her groundbreaking documentaries and features.
