A Celebration of the Literary Twin Cities

This is already shaping up to be a landmark year for a local literary scene that is one of the Twin Cities' most-prized cultural gems. Case in point: No fewer than four of the area's most prominent writing and publishing institutions are celebrating milestones. Graywolf Press (which recently relocated from St. Paul to Minneapolis) and the Loft are celebrating 35th anniversaries, Milkweed Editions its 30th, and Coffee House Press its 25th. (Even Open Book, which includes the Loft, Milkweed, and the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, has just finished off its first full decade in downtown Minneapolis.) In honor of these achievements, Talk of the Stacks is hosting a special discussion with each of the organizations' executive directors, moderated by MPR's Marianne Combs. With a group that has worked for presses as far off as New York and London, and has published the work of such noted authors as Kazuo Ishiguro and Debra Spark, there should be plenty of unique insight into what the future holds for one of the country's most vibrant literary scenes.
