It seems bizarre to state that a trivia night has grown exponentially over the past three years, but in the case of Trivia Mafia pub-quiz nights, it's true. When it began in January 2007, it was one evening at one spot. In the following years it grew to four locations, then on to an astounding 20 in 2009. Tonight, main hosts Chuck and Sean will celebrate at Trivia Mafia's original headquarters with a party guaranteed to blow minds (as all quests for trivial information should). Each year the quiz duo celebrates with a short film; this year's production is directed by local filmmaker John Paul Burgess and features the gang as they try to attract a younger audience to their pub nights. Will they find teenyboppers by making Twilight references at Paramour concerts? You'll have to wait and see. Also on the schedule will be trivia and tests. Guests can try to decipher what the secret word is during hip-hop charades, where rappers take to the stage to freestyle about a topic with certain words being verboten (sort of like a pub-rap version of Taboo). Local rap artist P.O.S. will also be on hand, and participants will be invited to try to stump him with questions about himself (or just ask for love advice—bonus points if it's awkward). There will also be prizes, and a living-image round in which people must guess the theme of the costumed character.
