Sample Night Live

Was one of your New Year's resolutions to check out some of this local theater scene you keep hearing about? Don't worry, it's a pretty common goal among locals. The problem is that many performances are outside our price range, and the Fringe Festival's 150-something shows can be very overwhelming. Enter Sample Night Live, a monthly event that showcases a wide variety of productions, musicians, and actors around town. See something you like? Check out the full performance later. As usual, the earlier show is rated a kid-friendly G. Acts include experimental theater with Lamb Lays with Lion, live art from William Hessian, and Chameleon Theatre Company presenting a portion of Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice, among others. The later show is unrated and a little more mature in subject matter. This show includes a preview screening of Phasma ex Machina, spoken-word artist and slam poet Khary Jackson (a.k.a. 6 is 9), improv with ComedySportz Comedy Theater, and performances by Off-Leash Area and Sandbox Theatre.
