Happy Hour

Sure, the other two Bulldogs (St. Paul and Northeast) are a little more posh, and the clientele is perhaps a little more affluent as well, but we will always have a soft spot for the less fancy location in Uptown. That said, it's hardly a dive. The crowds are mostly from the neighborhood, and it's not uncommon to find yourself chatting up friendly strangers at the bar or outside in the mercifully heated smokers' cage. It's also not uncommon for the crowds to still be pretty big at last call, though we prefer to dine and drink at a less blurry hour. Plus, the daily lunchtime special from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. is pretty nifty. Order any hotdog or veggie dog off of the menu (most cost $5 or $6), and you can choose between a free PBR, Bell's Two Hearted, Summit, or soft drink. If you find yourself lingering you can enjoy another happy hour special from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. when all bottled and tap beer is $2 off (though, strangely, this deal does not apply to any Belgian varieties).
